Switching from keyboards to kickpads – IT by day, MMA by night

I am an IT professional with over 11 years of experience, having grown from help desk operator to Head of IT, where I have managed infrastructure, logistics, technical operations, and policy development for organizations serving more than 10,000 users.

Academically, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Networking with First Class Honours and a Master’s degree in Networking and Information Security, completed with Distinction. To complement this foundation, I have also earned my ISO 27001:2022 Lead Auditor qualification from CQI IRCA, equipping me with advanced expertise in information security, compliance, and governance. Together, these achievements and experiences have enabled me to design and deliver secure, scalable, and cost-optimized technology solutions across infrastructure, networking, cyber security, adaptive AI, cloud services, and ISO frameworks.

Beyond technology, I have devoted over a decade to martial arts training, which has become an integral part of who I am. For 10 years, I trained under the banner of Total Extreme Budo Academy in the disciplines of Krav Maga, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). In addition, I spent 2 years training under the banner of Makoto Juko, specializing in Full Contact Karate. These experiences have not only sharpened my physical skills but also instilled in me the values of discipline, resilience, adaptability, and strategic thinking qualities that I carry into my professional life as well.

For me, technology and martial arts are two sides of the same coin. Both demand precision, creativity, discipline, and the ability to adapt under pressure. Whether I am researching innovations, architecting secure systems, leading ISO initiatives, or training on the mats, I approach every challenge with focus, curiosity, and a forward-thinking mindset.

This site reflects my career journey, academic and professional milestones, martial arts training, and the path I continue to shape both in technology and in life.

Born in 1992, I am part of the Millennial generation, also known as Generation Y. I was raised in a humble, middle-class household where the values of discipline, humility, and education were deeply instilled in me. Like many from my generation, my early years were dedicated to building a strong educational foundation while learning the importance of being a responsible individual both at home and in school.

My primary education began at an international school, which provided me with early exposure to diverse perspectives and academic standards. After a few years, I transitioned to the public school system in Sri Lanka. I first attended Prince of Wales’ College in Moratuwa, where I studied up to the Ordinary Level examinations. I then transferred to St. Sebastian’s College, also in Moratuwa, where I successfully completed my Advanced Level studies and graduated.

My interest in information technology began the moment I created my first email address with the help of a friend in our school computer lab. The idea of instant communication fascinated me, especially in a world where traditional mail was still the norm. Back then, many believed that post offices would become obsolete by 2020, yet here we are in 2025, and they still play a role in society.

After completing 13 years of school life, I was quickly confronted by the realities of adulthood. The comfort of long hours of sleep, daily routines, and the constant companionship of friends gave way to a period of uncertainty. Questions such as “What path should I take?” and “What comes next?” began to surface some of which I’ve since answered, while others continue to unfold with time. Life, after all, is a journey full of mystery. Yesterday is history, tomorrow remains uncertain, but today is a gift and that’s where I choose to focus, living each day with intention and joy.

This website is a personal reflection of that journey. It will remain online for as long as I’m able to maintain it. After that, like many things in life, it too may quietly fade away

St Sebastian’s College 13 COM E Class Photo Intake 1 First ever English Medium Class in Advanced level at St Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa.

This photo was taken at a classmate’s wedding, where I reunited with several of my former classmates from Prince of Wales College after many years. Unfortunately, I couldn’t locate an original class photo of our time together. What makes our group particularly special is that we were among the first batches in Sri Lanka to pursue Ordinary Level education in the English medium a milestone that marked a significant shift in the country’s educational landscape.

Years after leaving school, I was pleasantly surprised to come across a class photo during a visit with some of my former classmates to reconnect with our class teacher. He had taken on the monumental challenge of teaching the school’s first and only English medium class at the time, a milestone we all remember with great appreciation and respect.

I consider it a distinct honor to have been part of the first-ever English medium batches at both of the leading boys’ schools in Moratuwa. Being part of this educational transition at Prince of Wales College and later at St. Sebastian’s College is a meaningful chapter in my academic journey and a point of personal pride.

I guess that is enough of a peek into my early life. Check out the other pages for more fun stuff.
