My professional life started at a ripe age of 20 as an ATM Operations Support officer in a leading bank in Sri Lanka, down the line I was given the responsibilities of a shift team lead where I was responsible for the overall functionality of 400 plus ATM’s all over the island , including its maintenance , uptime and timely arrangement of cash reload. For a young fresher that responsibility felt like a mountain on my shoulder and at times it tested my ability to handle stress . I was able to sharpen many skills during my tenure at the bank , in 2013 I left the bank persuing a much better opportunity.

The team I had the privilege of working with has since gone on to pursue successful careers many within the banking sector, while others have ventured into different industries. It was a truly remarkable team, and the experience of working alongside such talented individuals remains a highlight of my professional journey.

My next role was with the largest non-banking financial institution in Sri Lanka, where I joined as a junior resource in the IT division. Over time, I was entrusted with the responsibility of establishing a debt recovery system for the organization’s newly formed call center. I was subsequently appointed as the officer in charge of the entire operation.

While I appreciated the trust placed in me and the experience gained, the role did not align with my long-term career goals. I made the decision to seek new opportunities that were better suited to my professional aspirations. Unfortunately, a few years later, the organization faced significant challenges and eventually filed for bankruptcy.

I later joined a well-known software company in Sri Lanka, recognized as a leading SaaS platform provider focused on bridging the gap between job seekers and employers. In my role as a Help Desk Engineer, I was responsible for delivering both internal IT support and external client support, serving a customer base of over 400 businesses. This position played a significant role in honing my technical skills and enhancing my business communication abilities, both of which have been instrumental in my professional growth.

The next chapter of my career took me to a manufacturing, brokering, and logistics organization, where I stepped into a more senior IT role. This position allowed me to broaden my expertise into the areas of IT management and operational controls. It was here that I began thinking more strategically, gaining hands-on experience with next-generation cloud technologies and key aspects of information security. Additionally, under the guidance of my supervisor at the time, I developed valuable leadership skills that continue to shape my professional approach today.

I am currently serving as the Head of IT at a leading digital consultancy firm in Sri Lanka, which caters to a diverse global clientele. In this role, I am responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of all IT-related operations, ensuring alignment with both organizational goals and industry best practices.
