BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
I began my journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), a discipline that was still relatively new to Sri Lanka in 2017. At the time, only two clubs in Colombo were offering structured Gi training under recognized international affiliations.

In 2017, I began training as a white belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the guidance of Coach Thushara Rathnayaka, affiliated with the Avi Nardia and John Machado BJJ banner.

I am currently training as an Assistant Instructor with the TEBA BJJ team, further deepening my understanding of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Each day on the mats offers a new lesson and insight into this beautiful and ever-evolving martial art.

As a dedicated BJJ practitioner, I made it a personal mission to promote the art as widely as possible. Taking the initiative, I introduced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to two of Sri Lanka’s most prominent striking clubs. On both occasions, the sessions were well received, with participants quickly grasping the fundamentals and showing genuine enthusiasm for the discipline.

Currently, I serve as an Assistant BJJ coach at TEBA gym Sri Lanka with the ultimate purpose of spreading the art of BJJ in Sri Lanka and to empower people from diverse backgrounds to embrace martial arts.
